Steamboat Springs, CO

Today Jeff and I took the boys out of school early and started our fun-filled fall break weekend! Jeff's cousin, Ashlee, is getting married this Saturday in a little town near Denver so we decided, since it was fall break, to make a trip out of it. Unfortunately, Laurin was working and had school (ah the joys of being an adult!) so she couldn't come. Amber decided to stay home to catch up on homework and to get some much needed down time since she's been so busy with the musical and school in general. So it was just the boys and I (Jeff is included in "the boys"). While we really missed having the girls with us, it was nice to spend some "one-on-one" time with the boys. During road trips, the boys are often relegated to the back of the car and we usually don't hear a peep from them during the drives. It was fun to have them in the middle seat - close enough to interact with them (when they weren't watching a DVD...darn technology!). We had fun playing the ABC game and even searching for all 50 states' license plates (we found 42). Today we headed to Steamboat Springs. This little ski town (what town in Colorado isn't a ski town?!) is about an hour east of where Jeff grew up. We passed through Craig on our way there and visited Jeff's old house and some of his old stomping grounds. I love listening to him tell stories about the adventures of his childhood. He is my Tom Sawyer. The more I hear about his activities and his mischievousness, the more he reminds me on Mark Twain's most famous character - Tom Sawyer.

After driving around Craig, we headed to Steamboat Springs. We got there around dinner time and decided to stop in the downtown area to eat. It is a cute little town with fun, funky shops to look through. We had fun just walking around before heading to the hotel to settle in for the night.
