Tonight we celebrated the young women (ages 12-18) in our ward (church congregation). Each young woman was spotlighted and given the opportunity to bring an item or two to display. All the items were representative of the ways in which these amazing young women have "Come Unto Christ" during the past year. Amber chose to display her piggy bank. This year she has started her first job and has been working towards saving money to be able to serve an 18 month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is an incredible teenager. I know that an alien has inhabited her body and probably won't dis-inhabit her body for a couple more years, but she gets it. She can have her moments where she gets frustrated that the world doesn't revolve around her, but she is always quick to make peace, to find understanding, and to do what is right. I can't tell you how comforting it is as a parent to know that, despite moments of frustrations and harsh words, she is doing really well. She is solid in her testimony. She is striving to be obedient - even if she doesn't agree with us. She exemplifies what it means to be a true daughter of God. We are so proud of you Amber!
