Pandemic Prom

A couple weeks ago, Dallin decided to ask Jackie to her "senior prom". However, since everything has been and still is canceled, Dallin and his friend, Matt, brilliantly created their own "prom". Jackie and her best friend, Emily, are seniors. Their senior year got cut incredibly short! They are missing out on so many of the senior milestones (e.g., prom, end of school year sports, graduation, etc.) others before (and hopefully after) have enjoyed so Dallin and Matt sprung into action to try to salvage at least one senior milestone. They cleverly used toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and face masks to ask the girls. Of course, each girl was a little confused, but once the boys explained their plan, the girls were super excited!

Dallin and Matt (with help from some of the rest of us) planned and executed an unforgettable senior "pandemic" prom! The couples started their fun day with a sunrise breakfast and games on West Mountain. That evening, Jeff arranged to have Dallin's name added to our insurance for one day so he could escort the girls around in the BelAir all evening. They picked up the girls and went to our neighbor's orchard to take pictures in the blossoms.

Next, they headed back to our house for dinner at the "Roof" restaurant. For those not living in Utah, the Roof Restaurant is a well-known establishment in downtown SLC overlooking Temple Square. While our "roof" restaurant may not have been as fancy, it did have an incredible view...of a spray-painted cow! The boys set tables up on the lean-to on the back pasture barn. They built a little wooden framed box to lift the couples onto the roof with the tractor, and yes, they spray-painted the cow with "2020" on one side and "prom" on the other. The cow even stopped to pose for a picture with Dallin and Jackie. Their menu consisted of steak and fingerling potatoes skewers for an appetizer with sushi for their main course. The girls love sushi and Dallin...does not so you know he must really like Jackie to make the culinary sacrifice. After dinner, he actually said it wasn't that bad. For dessert, they had chocolate fondue with a variety of delectable goodies to dip.

Danny and Jonas even got to help out. Danny operated the "elevator" and Jonas got to deliver a utensil they needed.

Finally, the couples went back to the orchard where there was a cement slab with hanging lights waiting for their "dance". Dallin said it started to rain a little but it was perfect! He said the rain made the lights sparkle and gave an illuminating effect to the BelAir (which was also parked on the cement slab). The whole evening seemed to be perfect! After the dance, they went back to Emily's house to watch movies and just hang out. These are great young adults! I am so glad that Dallin had a chance to be home to help make this happen. An unforgettable experience for sure!
