Lake Powell 2026

As if our summer wasn't busy enough, we still had to find a weekend to fit in a trip to Lake Powell. The boys really look forward to this weekend. As we searched the calendar for available weekends, July seemed to be the only option. This was a first for us. We generally try to avoid the massive heat of the summer, but this year, we embraced it. It actually wasn't as bad as I anticipated. Yes, it was hot, but that meant the water felt more refreshing. Plus, with the new boat, we had a bimny that worked for shade. So Dallin, Audrey, Daniel, his girlfriend, Addie, Tyson Hurtado, Kate, Jonas, Jeff and I headed south for the weekend. The lake was more shallow than I have ever seen it. There was only one ramp available to launch a boat. The line to launch was long, but we finally got on the water and were able to spend a few hours playing before we met up with Nichole and Ryan, who drove up from the valley to spend the weekend with us. The next two days were filled with sun, surfing, tubing, cliff jumping, bubble jumping, and more fun. (Kate and Tyson stayed with us on Friday then had to drive home for other obligations on Saturday.) One of the things I love about this weekend is that there is no screen time. We are all together in a small space and totally engaged with each other. We cheer each other on as the kids try new skills while surfing. We laugh together as the kids skid across the water on the tubes. We eat together, laugh together, and make memories together. Life really is a little better on the lake.
