Moab: Day 3 Easter

Today, Easter Sunday, we decided to park the machines for the day and do a little hiking instead. First off, however, the Easter Bunny actually found us in Moab and delivered some goodies to the kids.
Once the kids saw their chocolate milk and "bunny tails" (powdered donuts), breakfast was served! Danny was in sugar heaven! Since it was not only Easter but General Conference as well, we stuck around the camp for the morning to listen to the leaders of the church speak during the morning session. Meanwhile, Laurin, Katie, and Jeff's mom were heading our way. Laurin had the once in a lifetime opportunity to sing in a singles choir during Saturday afternoon's session of General Conference yesterday. Luckily, we recorded all the sessions and were able to listen to the Saturday afternoon session when we got home. The talks were inspiring and the music was heavenly. I think they did a great job!

Once everyone arrived, we had lunch then headed to Arches National Park to do a little hiking. Jeff's parents had never been to the park so, of course, we hit Delicate Arch first. This was another activity I decided to opt out of. The hike was a little longer and steeper than what I felt I could do so I enjoyed people watching as everyone else did the hike. Luckily, Penny snapped a few pictures during the trek.

After they finished that hike, we decided to hike to the next most iconic arch in the park - Landscape Arch. This hike was much shorter and easier so I tagged along.

After that, we all decided we were done hiking so we drove to some other arches you could see from the road before heading back to the campsite. Once at the campsite, the Easter Bunny had a little help from Laurin and Katie who hid more plastic, candy-filled eggs he left for the kids. You would think that it would be easy to find eggs in a barren desert landscape, but we actually lost two of the eggs! Oh well...at least they weren't real eggs. Hopefully, some lucky kid will find them soon.

The grand search for the missing two eggs!
I think the Easter Bunny did a pretty good job considering we were on vacation in Moab! After the kids searched for (and then promptly consumed the contents) their eggs, Grandma Penny brought up some supplies to make little cars for an "Easter Bunny". Of course this meant more sugar...and of course Danny was still in heaven! As the kids made their bunny cars, we prepared dinner. Last year we had lamb, funeral potatoes (because Jesus died), and had angel food cake for dessert (because He rose again). This year we didn't have the same meal but I made sure to bring up the angel food cake! I love traditions...and I love food. When I can combine the two, it becomes fun for me. All in all it was a wonderful Easter Sunday with family in God's beautiful creation!
