And just like that, summer is over! I can't believe that this is Danny's last "forced" first day of school (aka - senior year!...after this, he chooses whether or not to attend college). I think it's finally sinking in that he's reaching adulthood. He is starting to calculate the months left until he can submit mission papers or until he graduates and I think it's making him think about his future a little more. Still, he gets to enjoy one last year of youth before the really big decisions/responsibilities hit.
Jonas has been pretty nervous to go back to school. Earlier this month, I took him out to find a new outfit/shoes. He got a little excited when he found some shoes he liked, but he has vacillated between feeling just ok about school and dreading it. Finally, yesterday, after a haircut, we got to go to the school to see his classroom and meet his teacher. Once he saw how nice the teacher is and where he would be sitting and who was in his class, he finally started to feel excited. This morning, he was definitely excited to go (which made sending him off to school much easier for me). 2nd grade here he comes! I pray that this is a good year for both of the boys.
