Finally! I'm pretty sure (this year at least) Danny was more excited about his birthday than Christmas. He is finally 16! I have to admit I'm pretty excited for this birthday too...no more driving him to and from practices, lessons, etc. Plus, now he can run those errands that I don't want to! While he was super excited to drive, he was less excited about any particular birthday celebrations. Still, we couldn't let the day (or actually weekend) go unnoticed. On his actual birthday, he decided to go skiing with a couple of friends. He was a little skeptical to go at first because there hasn't been much snow, but he had so much fun. Later that evening, a small group of friends decided to come over to surprise him. They enjoyed playing some games and making cookies. On Sunday (6th), we had our family dinner celebration. He chose chicken cordon bleu with mashed potatoes and Caesar salad for dinner and cheesecake for dessert. (And yes, the tradition of preventing someone from blowing out his/her candles still remains strong. Although, I guess it's a good thing this year so no COVID germs get blown onto the dessert.)
While all that was fun and he definitely enjoyed the cards with money, Monday (7th) was probably his most exciting day. He finally has his license! Best. Birthday. Yet!
