If it seems like we're knocking these out pretty quickly, it's because we are. This month always flies by! We still have the mundane things like school, work, extra curricular activities, church responsibilities, etc. so we have the find the time to fit in all our holiday festivities. We try to maximize any open evening (or even just a few non-scheduled hours) to make the magic happen. It does make the month seem really busy, but I don't mind...especially when we are making time for kindness. Tonight we got to do one of my more favorite acts of kindness - the Giving Machine. Each year the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints set up the vending machines in several cities across several countries. These machines are filled with donation opportunities to local and worldwide charitable organizations. Instead of getting something from these machines, we give something! We get to choose a charity or two that we want to donate. This year we chose to donate 200 meals to the Community Action Services Food Bank and two piglets to the Academy for Creating Enterprise (the piglets go to a family along with mentoring on self-reliance and entrepreneurship). These machines give me a flurry of emotions. I'm so excited to donate to local (and worldwide) causes. I'm sad that these needs exist in the world. I'm touched that there are so many worthwhile organizations out there. And, I'm just grateful that I have enough to give.
