Happy 17th Birthday Danny!

Happy birthday Danny! I'm not sure this was his favorite birthday. He started a new job yesterday, which meant that he didn't get to go skiing with Dallin, and today was fast Sunday. Not a great combo. Still, we tried to make the best of it this evening. We invited all the siblings over as well as Gma and Grumpy, Katie, Evan, Kristina, their kids, and Mitchell. Needless to say, it was a full house of fun. He received money and gifts from everyone. I made the dinner he requested then we had cheesecake for dessert. He loves cheesecake! Hopefully, the cheesecake, games, and gifts eased the disappointment of other aspects of his birthday. Life isn't easy as a teenager. Danny has had defining moments of growth over the past few years. Like all of us, growth is hard and it isn't always in a straight, upward path. As he has experienced growing pains so have we. Danny has provided Jeff and I with necessary moments of reflection as we have pondered our own parenting methods as well as our relationship with our celestial parents. I would like to think all of us are on a positive path...definitely not perfect, but one of growth. I sincerely hope this next year is Danny's best year yet!
