When I got home on Friday, I quickly noticed that all the snow around the house was GONE!! I was so excited! Maybe Spring really is coming!...which means it's time to get to work! Saturday the boys, Jeff and I spent the day working outside. Jeff's dad came over in the morning to help prune our fruit trees while I re-strung our blackberry vines. Once we cleaned up the tree clippings, we cleaned out the garden shed, fertilized the ground and tilled it to get ready to start planting next weekend (hopefully...weather permitting). I have to admit that I can now see why Jeff loves his tractor so much! It was fun to be out on it. I remember having a garden when I was a kid, but it's hard to grow things in AZ; plus, the water it takes to make it grow is more expensive than just buying it in the grocery store so I'm excited to be able to learn how to plant and grow things. I would love to also have a flower garden of some sorts, but I'll just take it one step at a time. I am a city girl, but I think I'm quickly falling in love with the country life. All my ancestors were ranchers or farmers. I think I still have some of that in my blood. Here are just a few pics I remembered to snap with my phone while we were working.
Dallin driving the tractor out to get the tree limbs.
Jeff showing Dallin how to sharpen a shovel.
Me getting in touch with my ancestral roots...although not with a horse and plow.
Wow, you really ARE a country girl now!! :0)
