While I was away...

I have come to discover that no week is a good week to take a vacation when you have 4 very busy kids! Poor Jeff had to juggle an extra busy week while I was relaxing and warming up in Arizona. Still, as is always the case, he did an amazing job! I hope the kids know how lucky they are to have a dad who is able to juggle things to be there for them when they need him. I know I feel very blessed to be married to such a man. In any case, this past week Dallin had a basketball game on Tuesday and Thursday night (sorry...no pictures...I have yet to train Jeff in that aspect), the girls had New Beginnigs on Wednesday (which was a fun Dr. Seuss theme "Oh the Places You'll Stand" - everyone said it was very well done!), and the boys had parent teacher conferences on Thursday night! All that was on top of just the normal weekly activities! I am happy to report that things seemed to go smoothly and all the kids did great academically this past term. I am very proud of the hard work they put in school. Here are a few pics Jeff and Amber took from the night of New Beginnings. The girls dressed up in true Dr. Seuss fashion.

It looks like it was fun night. The girls love their new young women leaders. I know my YW leaders played a very influential role in my teenage years. I believe Laurin and Amber will be able to say the same thing. By the time Friday rolled around, I was ready to come home. I missed being a part of all the fun and craziness that comes with being a mom. Plus, I really missed Jeff. I feel so lucky to have such an amazing man to call my husband.

As one final note, while I was away we welcomed a new addition to the Southwick family...Daisy, our jersey cow. Now, when I told Jeff I wanted to consider adding to our family, I should have specified I wanted something of the two-legged variety. Still, Jeff has been working for years to prepare to get a cow and Daisy is sure a cute little cow. Our goal is to breed her and be able to get meat from her offspring. We'll see how it all works...this is a new territory for both Jeff and I. Luckily, out where we live there are many experts to help us out!
