King and Queen Ball

Today was Dallin's King and Queen Ball. This was a new experience for me. Evidently ettiquette is a part of the 6th grade curriculum. Dallin (and his classmates) has been learning proper table manners and couples dancing. It all culminated with a small lunch and a dance during school. Parents were invited to come to watch the dancing portion of the event. Jeff and I showed up as they were finishing eating. I enjoyed seeing Dallin confidently interact with his friends. He has great friends and is an amazing young man. He has always been observant and thoughtful and it was fun to see him escort a girl around the dance floor...actually several girls...including me...and think about what he'll be like when he starts dating! Oh boy!! Good thing that's still a few years off because I have a feeling we're going to need time to prepare to defend him from all the girls that will be following him around. In all seriousness though, I treasure these moments and these memories because I know all too soon he'll be grown up and moving on with life.
