Happy Father' Day! or actually days... Yup! We got to celebrate the fathers in our family for more than just a single Sunday, and they deserved it. I was lucky enough to know what type of dad Jeff was before I married him. I could see him in action. He loves unfailingly. He fights for his family. He works hard and plays hard. His kids are his world...and that has only intensified as the years have passed. It has also been so rewarding to see our sons-in-law step into that father role. Each of them bring their unique perspectives to that sacred calling that even inspire changes in Jeff's (and mine) parenting practices. These men, much like my father and Jeff's dad, exemplify patience, faithfulness, and love beyond description. The Sunday before Father's Day (June 8th), we gathered with all the kids (minus Danny...obviously) for a Father's Day dinner and game. Laurin (with a little help from Amber and I) created a "Deal or No Deal" gameshow for the dads to pick their gift. They had fun eliminating "cases". Some were easy to knock off the list. Others stung a little. Ultimately, they ended up with a night of laughs at the Dry Bar Comedy show.
Father's Day weekend Jeff got to do what he enjoys most...be outdoors! He loves to camp (although that is waning with his age), hike, and most especially, be with his family. Friday (June 13th), Jeff and Jonas met up with Jordan and all the Tanner boys for a little campout. Jacob, Amber, and Beau later joined the party. It was a little toasty so they hid in the shade while they shot pellet pistols during the hottest part of the day then ventured out for a little hike when it was cooler. The evening ended with a yummy s'mores roast.
Dallin, Audrey, and I loaded up the boat the next day and met all of them (minus Jacob, Amber, and Beau) the next day (Saturday, June 14th) at Yuba. We spent several hours cooling off at the lake while the boys took turns surfing and finally jumping on the tube.
On Father's Day (Sunday, June 15th), we wrapped up the celebrations with everyone (minus Danny) at one of our favorite campsites, Tinney Flats, in Santaquin Canyon. This canyon has been closed for several years due to mudslides and avalanches. It finally re-opened this year. We set up chairs by the river, indulged in desserts, played corn hole, some went on a hike, and more. It was the perfect way to wrap up our Father's Day celebrations.
