Bantam Basketball 2025-2026

Like last year, Jonas has been playing basketball on a Bantam league. In the fall, his coach from last year reached out to all the boys to see if he could get the team back together again. Everyone (except one kid, Baylor) agreed! Gabe Dunn joined the team this year along with the returning players: Spencer Wright, Miles Simonsen, Winston Gourley, Madden Wall, and Knox Christensen. They had an AWESOME season! It is so fun to watch them play and grow together. I have seen Jonas improve in his ability to read the game better and be where he needs to be to help make the plays. Jonas made several points over the season. On average, he would score 4-6 points per game. One game he scored 8! For a primarily defensive player, that was pretty good. He is such a scrappy player. He's not afraid to get in there and get the ball. This resulted in a few bumps and bruises over the season, but it didn't stop him. He had really great games and games where he was just off. He had to learn that basketball is as much a mental sport as a physical one. They started playing pre-season games in November. The normal season started in December and ran through the beginning of March then they played a spring season in March. It has been non-stop months of basketball! Their team finished first in the normal season, but sadly lost the championship game. It was a nail biter though! They fought to the bitter end. There were disappointing calls and rough shots, but I was proud of them. I'm pretty sure this won't be their last season together. Way to go Salem Skyhawks!
