Dallin's Eagle Scout Court of Honor

Tonight we celebrated Dallin's Eagle Scout achievement. We are so incredibly proud of him! This is not an easy feat. Reportedly only 2.01% of eligible scouts have actually achieved this highest honor since the inception of scouting in 1912. Dallin has worked hard for the past 4-5 years to earn the necessary merit badges and complete an Eagle Scout project. I'm sure there were moments when he wondered if it was all worth it, but seeing him tonight, I think he would agree that it was. He is the first in his age group to receive his Eagle. We were lucky enough to have Stan, Kristi and their family join us as well as Scott. I'm grateful for Dallin's Eagle Scout predecessors that have supported and encouraged him along the way. We held the court of honor in the church bowery, where we were able to have an outdoor flag ceremony to start. Jeff and I ordered a flag from the US Capitol to commemorate this occasion. Danny conducted the program. Grant assembled the Eagles Nest. Jeff gave some remarks. Dallin was then presented with his Eagle. Scott then gave Dallin the Eagle charge. Finally, Bro. Rob Grant gave the Scout Masters Minute before Dallin's troop retired the flag and we ended the program. It was a simple, but meaningful program. Way to go Dallin!

Dallin presented his mentor pin to Grandma Penny for all the work she did with him in cub scouts that started him on this path.
