12 Acts of Kindness: Acts 5-8

That's right! We checked off 4 acts of kindness in one night. We actually had an evening when Jeff was home early and no one had any commitments. That's unheard of right now! So we took full advantage of our night together. We started by gathering some non-perishable items from our food storage to deliver to the Free Food Box in Payson. There is a small bird-house looking box for anyone to put food in or take food out as needed. We constantly feel overwhelmed by how much we have and how much we have to be thankful for. It was nice to be able to talk to the boys about those who don't even have three meals a day. They were excited to fill up the box!

Next up, we hit the local laundromat where we secretly placed small bags of coins and single-use laundry detergent in the washing machines. Again, we were able to explain to the boys that there are many people who are unable to have their own washing machines in the house and have to rely on facilities like this.

After the laundromat, we headed to the Dollar Store. This is a favorite activity! The boys love roaming the store and thoughtfully placing a dollar on different items for an unsuspecting customer to receive. Even though Jonas was fine to put it on whatever, Danny took his time to consider which items would be most needed or appreciated at this time.

Finally, we headed to Walmart. This is another favorite activity! As we walked from the Dollar Store to Walmart, we quietly pleaded for divine assistance in knowing to whom to give these two gift cards. We discussed that it may not be the person who looks the most financially strapped, but perhaps the person who simply needs to know there is still kindness in the world. Jonas entered the store and immediately saw a disabled gentleman. He quickly decided that was the person he wanted to give his gift card to. The gentleman kindly accepted the card and thanked Jonas and Jonas skipped off proclaiming, "Merry Christmas" to all who would hear. Daniel took a little more time. He wandered the entire store before finally noticing a small family. He approached the frazzled looking father and gave him the card. He wished him a Merry Christmas as the father's misty eyes accepted the gift. Kindness had been delivered tonight...and the ones who were most blessed were those who gave.
