Babysitting and Baseball

Today Amber and her friend, Rachel, started their summer "Tiny Tots Retreat". Towards the end of the school year, Jeff and I spoke with the girls regarding upcoming extracurricular activities they wanted to participate in. We felt it was important to teach the girls the value of earning and saving money; therefore, we informed them that they would have to pay for part (if not all) of those activities. Laurin decided to utilize the CNA she earned last year and found a job at Parkway Health Center in Payson. Since Amber is not yet 16, I told her about earning money by offering a summer preschool program when I was younger. She loved the idea and off she went! She and Rachel have spent countless hours preparing and delivering fliers, getting ideas off Pinterest, and collecting items needed. It has been nice to see how the girls responded to the counsel they received. I know they are new to the idea of managing their own money, but they have been doing well (except for those occasional moments when they get frustrated because they want to spend Dad's money instead of their own).

That evening, in case you were wondering, Jeff and I were again with the boys at the ball fields. Danny still has two additional weeks of games and Dallin's team made it to the tournament so they'll have another week of games in July. We have enjoyed watching both the boys play. Dallin took a while to warm up to the sport (I think he missed basketball, which is his first love), but he has really done well these past couple weeks. Danny has loved the game since day one and is always excited to be able to play.
